Graduate Deferment of Admission Request

Newly admitted graduate students can complete this form to request to defer their admission to a new term.

Students may request to defer their admission up to two full semesters, excluding the summer term, from the initial application term. (For example, deferring from Fall 2022 to Spring 2023, or from Fall 2022 to Fall 2023.)

This request must be submitted by CENSUS DAY of your INITIAL application term.

This request will be submitted to the program you are admitted to for review. Once reviewed, the Office of Admission and Enrollment will update your application status in Galaxy indicating if your request is approved or denied. If approved, your admission term will be updated and a new admission letter will be issued.

Note for Enrolled Students: Currently enrolled students are not eligible to defer. If you are admitted to a future term and have already enrolled in class but the term has not begun, you will need to drop your classes prior to the first day of class to be eligible to defer. If you do not drop your classes in time, you will not be eligible to defer and will need to submit a new application.
