Undergraduate Deferment of Admission Request
Admitted students can submit this form to request to defer their admission to a new term. Before submitting this request, please read the important information below:
- Enrolled Students: This form is only for students who are admitted to UT Dallas but have not enrolled in class. Currently enrolled students are not eligible to defer. If you are admitted to a future term and have already enrolled in class but the term has not begun, you will need to drop your classes prior to the first day of class to be eligible to defer. If you do not drop your classes in time, you will not be eligible to defer and will need to submit a new application.
- Deferment Timeframe: The maximum deferment of admission is one full semester, excluding summer terms, from your initial application term. Otherwise, a new admission application must be submitted.
- Comet Connection/ Freshmen pursuing a Gap Year: Members of the Comet Connection program or Freshman applicants pursuing a gap year are eligible to request to defer their admission for two full semesters.
- Outside Enrollment during Deferral period: Admitted freshmen who request a deferment of admission are not allowed to attend another institution of higher education during the deferral period. Freshmen who attend another institution of higher education during the deferral period will be changed to a transfer student. This may also result in the original offer of admission being invalidated or revoked.
- Financial Aid/Scholarship Recipients: Students receiving financial aid or scholarships should reach out to those departments to discuss potential impacts before submitting a deferment request.
This request must be submitted by CENSUS DAY of your INITIAL application term.
